Our Periodontal Dental Services include:

1.    Treatments of Periodontal disease

Periodontal Disease is an oral disease that develops from a lack of proper brushing and flossing often times resulting in gum recession, bone loss, and subsequent tooth loss. The early signs that you may have periodontal disease include red gum tissue, bleeding at the gums during flossing/brushing and chronic bad breath.

Treatment for gum disease is dependent on the type and stage of disease which include

GINGIVITIS

Gingivitis is a reversible gum disease that typically shows up as red, puffy gums.  It can be easily treated with a thorough dental cleaning to remove plaque and tartar buildup.

PERIODONTITIS

If gingivitis goes untreated, it may progress to periodontitis which a more is advanced stage of gum disease because it affects the underlying bone.  Scaling and root planning is the most common treatment for periodontitis and includes cleaning the teeth above and below the gum line using ultrasonic scaling instruments and hand instruments.  It is a conservative treatment that does not require surgery.  Advanced cases of periodontal disease may require gum surgery if the tissue cannot be repaired with non-surgical treatment alone.

If you notice some symptoms of teeth and gum disease, consult a specialist in our clinic that specializes in periodontal treatment.

2.    Dental implants

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root placed where the missing tooth used to be. They are made of solid, sterile titanium which is inserted into the jaw to replace the roots of natural teeth. Dental implants provide a strong and stable foundation for replacement teeth, which look, feel and function just like natural teeth.

We replace missing teeth while preserving the condition of healthy adjacent teeth and stimulate bone and gum tissue to provide an attractive and aesthetic smile. Dental implants surgery can be a scary thought for a lot of people. That’s why our goal is to make the procedure as comfortable as possible for the patient by offering several options for sedation. We take great care in the comfort of our patients and explain everything you need to know.

3.    Crown lengthening

Crown lengthening is a procedure designed to reshape the gums at the base of the desired tooth or teeth. Just as its name sounds, its purpose is to expose additional tooth surface and, if necessary, adjust the bone level.

There are many dental conditions that need crown lengthening as part of the restorative procedure. The most common condition requiring crown lengthening is severe tooth decay, where the decay extends below the gum line. Another common problem is when a tooth has fractured and broken off beneath the existing gum line.

4.    Sinus lift

The maxillary sinuses are behind your cheeks and on top of the upper teeth. These sinuses are empty, air-filled spaces. Some of the roots of the natural upper teeth extend up into the maxillary sinuses. When these upper teeth are removed, there is often just a thin wall of bone separating the maxillary sinus and the mouth. Dental implants need bone to hold them in place. When the sinus wall is very thin, it is impossible to place dental implants in this bone. Sinus lift procedure allows us to increase the bone volume in the maxillary sinus. Making it possible for many patients to have dental implants when years ago there was no other option besides wearing loose dentures.

5.    Soft tissue Grafting

A soft tissue graft is used when there has been a significant amount of gum recession in a particular area. Slight gum recession can usually be fixed with a few changes to your oral hygiene routine to take better care of your teeth and gums. When the gingiva recedes further it exposes you to greater risk for infection and bacterial penetration. You will likely be more sensitive to hot and cold foods when you have receding gums. If the gums recede enough as to expose the root you can set yourself up for more serious problems. The root is softer than the enamel making it more vulnerable to bacteria and plaque.

To restore proper gum level and functionality a soft tissue graft can be performed. This is done by either removing soft tissue from the roof of the mouth, or repositioning healthy gum tissue from adjacent teeth. This procedure is very predictable and has a high success rate.

If you hesitate to smile because of exposed roots, or cringe because they are sensitive to cold foods, soft tissue grafts can enhance your smile and eliminate sensitivity, and also help protect roots from decay.
